Newspaper Article - When Children Hit Their Parents

Dear children,

This is an article that I took from the Straits Times on June 29. I felt quite sad after reading it. Do we really have children out there who do this to their parents? Share your thoughts after reading the article.

Some things to think about:
1) What roles should children play in a family?
2) From what you have read, what are some reasons why children end up hitting their parents?
3) Do you think it is right for children to hit their parents? Why?
4) What values should we show to our parents?
Thank you.

Swine Flu Song

Dear children,

As you know, we have been taking precautions in times of this new influenza outbreak. It used to be known as Swine Flu, but now, it's known as "Influenza A" or "H1N1". Continue to be vigilant, stay healthy and practice good hygiene.

Art Lesson on Thursday, 5th March

Hi children, do you remember what you learnt during Art today? It's another ASEAN artist by the name of Affandi. Yes, he's from Indonesia. He was born in 1907 and passed away in 1990, at the age of 83 years. He is famous world wide and his latest painting was entiltled "Mati Terpapi".

Affandi's idol was Vincent Van Gogh. Most of his paintings employed the same technique/strokes as Vincent. Here's a video on Vincent's paitings, together with the theme song "Starry Starry Night". If you listen closely, the lyrics of the song describes Vincent's sad life too.

For the next Art lesson on 12/3/09, just bring along your note book. You will be learning about Art Assessment!

Terry Fox - An Inspirational Hero

Here's another heart-warming video on Terry Fox.

How does someone like Terry inspire you?

Some things to think about:
(1) How do you think Terry felt when he found out that he had bone cancer?
(2) What made him decide to raise money for cancer research?
(3) After his death, a statue was built in memory of him. The head of the statue was raised high... what does this mean to you?

Value for Term 1 - CARE

CONGRATULATIONS to Jee Sang Won for being our care ambassador this term!
He was chosen because he willingly gave up his Total Defence template to another friend who wanted it badly. This goes to show that he cared for his friends.

It's time to show care towards ourselves as well as others. Remember, the teachers are on a lookout for our CARE ambassadors this term!
